Fan bus organized for Friday's game at Florence

Local booster clubs are making sure their fans can make it to basketball games this weekend without having to drain their own gas tanks to do it. Gibraltar is offering a ride for its supporters to Friday's game at Florence. A fast turnaround may be needed if the Vikings win on Friday, with an even farther game possible on Saturday. You can find details about the fan bus below.

Gibraltar advances to Regional Semifinal in blowout on 105.1 WSBW

Gibraltar got off to a hot start in the opening round of the WIAA Division 5 playoffs against Lena and never looked backed. The fifth-seeded Vikings had a double-figure lead almost the entire game and won 81-41 over the 12th-seeded Wildcats.

It was clear from the opening warmups that Gibraltar had a major size advantage and they used it well to dominate the paint. No one player really dominated for the Vikings as their leading scorers, Evan Henry and Andras Szakala, only scored 14 points. Every player on the roster played in the game and it was a total team effort on both ends of the floor. Lena got a good shooting game from freshman guard Max Beyer who led all scorers with 17 points on five made threes. At the end of the game, Head Coach Justin Burress had all five seniors playing at one time and then substituted them all out of the game at once so the crowd could give them a standing ovation in what will probably be their final home game.

Gibraltar will next take on fourth-seeded Florence on the road on Friday night. The Bobcats took down Goodman/Pembine 78-54.

Gibraltar coach ready for playoff run

Head coach Justin Burress previews Tuesday's game at home against Lena. Burress talks about the season up to this point, takes a look at Lena, and lauds the home atmosphere for its games.

Gibraltar plays for regional title berth on 105.1 The Viking

The Gibraltar Vikings hold the top seed in the regional this weekend when it hosts Oakfield in Fish Creek Friday night. The Vikings come into the matchup winners of eight of their last 10 after coming in second place in Packerland Conference play to the undefeated Kewaunee Storm. Payton Pluff and Abbigael Sitte have proven to be a tough combo to contain this season, leading the team in points, rebounds, and assists. The Oaks earned their way to the regional semi-finals by beating Heritage Christian 68-63 on Tuesday. Led by leading scorer and assist leader Aryn Uttendorfer, the Oaks finished the 2018-19 campaign fourth in the Trailways-East conference with an 8-14 overall mark. Jon Bregman and Jay Kita will have the call beginning at 7 p.m on 105.1 The Viking.

Other local regional match-ups include Kewaunee hosting Brillion, Algoma traveling to Howards Grove, Southern Door heading to Sheboygan Falls, and Luxemburg-Casco hosting Seymour on 96.7 WBDK.

Gibraltar can't snap streak, falls to Southern Door
