In Nekoosa, Wis., the Spartans Trap Team won the first state title with Cole Anderson (95), Ethan Buresh (94), Jacob DeGrave (99), Kyle Kratz (93), Mitchel DeGreve (94), Charlie Simonar (90), Garrett Simonar (98), Jayden Stein (96),  and Trey Vincent (92) all scoring at least 90 points across their two sessions.

Out on the water near LaCrosse, the Spartans will send two teams to the national competition after taking the top two spots in the state competition. The state champions were Riley Richard and Jacob Treml, captained by coach Brian Eisch. The runner-ups were Isaac Jerabek and John Hanmann Jr., captained by coach Jesse Jerabek.

Lemens named DPOY in NEC

The Luxemburg-Casco soccer team placed four on the All-NEC teams last week with the top honors going to its goalkeeper.

Tabi Lemens was named to the NEC first-team as a goalkeeper while also earning the conference's top honor for defensive players. The Spartans' promise is evident with its second-team selections with freshmen Alana Mrotek and Emi Kuhn earning spots. The league's coaches also did not forget the contributions of one of the Spartans' seniors, Sami Treml, earning an honorable mention.

Herlache vaults to podium

George Herlache vaulted his way to a podium finish at the WIAA State Track Meet, finishing the weekend as Luxemburg-Casco's top performer.

Herlache ended his weekend with a final height of 13-06, good for sixth place overall and just over 1.5 feet under the leader Preston Buroker of Viroqua, who set a state record in the process.

The 4x400m relay ream featuring Lydia Morozov, Grace Seering, Elaina Holschuh, Madyson VanArk, and Eva Junion finished outside of the qualification window, coming in 15th with a time of 4:11.55.

Spartans soccer looks to sink Marines in rematch

Vengeance should be on the minds of the Luxemburg-Casco soccer team when they head to Marinette to face the Marines Thursday.

The Spartans are mired in a four-game winless stretch, going 0-1-3 during that time. They have started to score goals again after a stretch earlier in the month where they failed to score in four of their matches.

The Marines delivered a 4-0 victory over the Spartans in Luxemburg on May 11th as a part of a five-game winning streak to end the regular season. The Marines have not lost since a season-opener defeat to Ingalls in the opener.

First touch is set for 4:30 p.m.
