Algoma volleyball welcomes Denmark

The Algoma volleyball will take a break from conference play for the night on Friday when they welcome Denmark.

 

The Wolves were swept by Southern Door on Tuesday, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19. The Wolves were led by Eva Liu (3 Aces, 28 Receptions, 18 Digs), Natalie Ray (3 Kills, 8 Digs, 16 Receptions), Sadie Rikkola (3 Kills, 12 Receptions, 9 Digs), Lauren Loucks (9 Kills, 3 Blocks, 1 Ace), and Aleasha Granius (11 Assists, 4 Aces, 3 Digs).

 

The Vikings are 9-7 overall and 4-4 in the NEC. They have alternated wins and losses since September 8th when they topped Freedom 3-2. More recently, the Vikings swept Clintonville in three sets.


First serve is set for 7 p.m.

Algoma soccer visits Providence Academy

The Algoma soccer team makes the trip to Howard on Thursday to face Providence Academy in Packerland Conference action.

 

The Wolves are coming off a 3-0 win against NEW Lutheran to run their winning streak to two. The Paladins return home fresh off a 3-1 defeat to Sturgeon Bay on Tuesday, Kellan Landes is among the state's leaders in goals scored at 28, including on Tuesday against the Clippers.

 

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.

Wolves football wraps up season at Oneida Nation

Despite just two losses in the season, the Algoma football team will wrap up its 2026 season on Thursday night with a matchup against Oneida Nation.

 

One of their two losses came last week in a 28-12 loss to state-ranked Sevastopol. The Wolves' Ethan Melotte completed one pass for 46 yards and a score while rushing for 27 yards and a touchdown. Cooper Fay led the team in receiving with 82 yards on three catches, while Jack Meverden rushed for 50 yards on 10 carries to pace the Wolves.

 

The Thunderhawks have struggled in their return as a standalone team, dropping six consecutive games after accepting a forfeit by Menominee Nation to start the campaign. Last week, they nearly broke that streak with a 32-30 loss to Goodman-Pembine.

 

WIAA rules prevent Algoma from being eligible for the playoffs due to enrollment limits. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Oneida Nation.

Wolves soccer shutout Blazers

The Algoma Wolves earned a 3-0 win in front of its home crowd on Monday as a resume builder ahead of this week's seeding meetings.

 

The Wolves' attack made life hard on the Blazers' defense. Blazers goalkeeper Greyson Neumann made nine saves in the Wolves victory.

 

 

Algoma volleyball welcomes Southern Door

The Algoma volleyball team looks for its first win in the Packerland Conference on Tuesday when it welcomes Southern Door.

 

The Wolves dropped their last match to Sturgeon Bay 3-1 (26-24, 24-26, 25-18, 25-18). They have split their last four matches after breaking a four-game skid.

 

The Eagles had a three-match winning streak snapped with a 3-1 loss to Gibraltar ( 24-26, 25-20, 25-15, 25-22).

Algoma soccer hosts NEW Lutheran Monday

The Algoma soccer team opens the week with a Monday afternoon tilt with NEW Lutheran.

 

The Wolves are 2-2-1 over their last five matches, breaking a three-match winless streak with a 9-1 victory over Peshtigo.

 

The Blazers are 1-4 over their last five matches, falling to eighth-ranked Providence Academy 8-1 in their last outing.

 

Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.

Reif, Brumm power Wolves at Pioneer Invite

A personal best for Ellie Reif provided the Algoma cross country team with one of its many highlights of Thursday's Pioneer Invite.

 

Reif ran a personal-best time of 22:02 on the hilly 5K course to finish in eighth place overall. Two of her other teammates finished in the Top 25. On the boys' side, Brayden Brumm carried the torch for the Wolves with a time of 22:43.

Algoma, Sevastopol battle on the lakeshore

Two of the top teams on the lakeshore will battle Friday night when Algoma welcomes Sevastopol to Perry Field.

 

The Wolves throttled Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah in their last game 44-0 thanks to another strong performance by Ethan Melotte. The senior quarterback threw for 99 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for another score on 15 carries and 154 yards. Cooper Fay caught all four completions by Melotte while Jack Meverden score twice on 45 yards rushing. 

 

The Pioneers rolled past Oneida Nation 60-12 as multiple Pioneers found the end zone. Bo Tanck accounted for four touchdowns, scoring twice on the ground and adding two touchdown passes. Cash Kuehn hauled in one of those scoring passes, while Roman LeClair added two rushing touchdowns. Kolt Pfister also found the end zone on the ground, while Ray Johnson gave the Pioneers another spark with a kickoff return touchdown.

 

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
