The Sevastopol Pioneers took their turn Thursday hosting a cross country meet at Cherry Hills Golf Course. 

For the girls, it was about Bea Dramm, who covered the hilly 5K course in a time of 21:46 for an 8th place finish.

For the boys, it was Jairus Dadam, who took 18th place with a time of 20:07. Every runner in his race covered the course in under 21 minutes.

The Sevastopol Pioneers volleyball team could not get over the hump in their 3-2 loss to NEW Lutheran in Green Bay on Thursday.

The Pioneers captured the first two sets 25-20 and 25-23, but the Blazer took the rest by scores of 25-23, 25-21, and 15-12.

Greta Wise led the Blazers' comeback thanks to 27 kills and 16 digs.

The Sevastopol football will officially christen their new field on Friday night when they welcome Suring to Institute.

The Pioneers are coming off a 54-14 loss to Wausaukee last week where they struggled to contain the rushing attack from the Rangers' John Kanzenbach. Atlee Manson scored on a long touchdown run and Logan Schuh connected with Aiden Isaksen for the other score. A win would even their record on the season. 

The Eagles are looking to even their record at 3-3 after beating Oneida Nation/NEW Lutheran last week 42-12. Trent VanDenElzen and Ashtyn Edwards each had two touchdowns on the ground while Keegan Rattin was the horse with 154 yards rushing.

Friday's game will be the official grand opening of Pioneer Stadium, which saw a complete overhaul of its playing surfaces, press box, bleachers, and other facilities. 

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The Sevastopol volleyball looks to stretch their winning streak to three when they visit Green Bay to battle the Blazers of NEW Lutheran.

The Pioneers toppled Oconto on Tuesday 3-1 (25-13, 25-15, 23-25, 25-18). It marked a tremendous milestone for Bailey Rikkola as she reached the 1,000 dig mark in her career. She is only the second Pioneer to reach the milestone behind Demi Ploor.

The Blazers have struggled in conference play after starting its Packerland slate with three straight victories. They have lost to Sturgeon Bay and Southern Door by identical 3-1 scores.

The match starts at 7 p.m.

Cherry Hills Lodge and Golf Course will be the site for one of the three cross-country meets featuring local teams on Thursday.

Sevastopol will host Freedom, Gibraltar, Manitowoc Lutheran, Sturgeon Bay, and Two Rivers for the 5K race beginning at 4 p.m. The meet will also features middle school teams.

Door County United (DCU) girls high school swim team success continued with their win against Clintonville High School on Tuesday, September 27th. The team scored 124 points to Clintonville’s 36 points. Clintonville did not have a junior varsity team. Isabella Jimenez Seyfer (SBHS) scored 9 points in her individual events, 6 of which coming from her 1st place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. This was her first time completing this event at the high school level. Freshman Regan Kasten (SBHS) scored 8 points in her individual events of the night as well. Danica Neville (SDHS) scored 10 points for the team with her 1st place finish in the 100-yard backstroke and her 2nd place finish in the 200-yard individual medley. The girls finished the meet scoring 12 more overall points with a 1st and 2nd place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The A relay consisted of Cassie Rankin (SEV), Regan Kasten (SBHS), Julia Michalski (SBHS), and Sanya Wienke (SBHS). The B relay consisted of Isabella Jimenez Seyfer (SBHS), Paula Wienke (SBHS), Anika Steinbach (SBHS), and Natalia Michalski (SBHS). The team’s next match-up is on Thursday, October 6th, where they will take on Pulaski High School at the Door County YMCA. The meet will begin at 6:00 p.m. 

The Sevastopol Pioneers look to get back into the win column against conference opponents on the volleyball court on Tuesday.

The Pioneers have won seven of their last ten matches en route to a 17-7 record, but two of their losses have come against conference foes Peshtigo (3-2 Thursday) and Algoma (2-1 Saturday).  

The Blue Devils have struggled their way to a 5-21 mark, going 1-3 in the conference thus far. They went 2-3 at the West De Pere Tournament over the weekend after losing to Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay on consecutive Thursdays. 

Match time is set for 7 p.m.

The Sevastopol Pioneers' defense gave up at least two touchdowns in three of its four quarters on Friday, falling to the Wausaukee Rangers 54-14.

Connor Schroeder threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Rangers offensively. Teammate John Kanzenbach was nearly unstoppable in the running game, rushing for 245 yards on 14 carries and three scores. 

Leading the way for the Pioneers was Atlee Manson, who rushed for 110 yards. Half of those yards game on a 55-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Logan Schuh accounted for the other Pioneers' score as he found Aiden Isaksen in the end zone in the fourth quarter.

The Pioneers return home Friday for their new field's dedication as they host Suring.

The Sevastopol Pioneers ran their second race in three days on Saturday, running in the Manitowoc Invitational.

The Pioneers took 16th overall with 441 points with Wauwatosa East winning the invite with 53 points. Bea Dramm paced the Pioneers girls with a time of 21:46, good for 62nd overall. Jolene Luedtke and Katie Spude joined her in the Top 100 in the field.

The Sevastopol Pioneers hope to carry the positive momentum started last week with to the North Woods as they visit Wausaukee in Eight-Player Football action on Friday.

The Pioneers ground out a 18-0 victory over Oneida Nation/NEW Lutheran last weekend. Frankie de Young threw for one score, Atlee Manson ran for another, and Cesar Sandoval took one the other way for a touchdown to lead the Pioneers. Boasting a 2-2 record on the season, the Pioneers have only lost to state-ranked Lena/STAA and Gibraltar.

The Rangers had a rough go of things against Gibraltar, taking advantage of two turnovers by the Vikings' backups for their two scores in last week's 50-12 loss. The unknown is the status of their top offensive performer Luke Smith. He leads the team in passing and rushing but injured his soldier in the first half and did not return.

The Sevastopol girls' cross country were rewarded for their strong performances at the Bremser Invite hosted by Mishicot on Thursday.

Bea Dramm led the way for the girls team with a season record time of 21:36 on the 5K course, which was good for 11th overall. Five of the six runners garnered at least a season record in the race.

Jarius Dadam set a personal record of 19:30 to take 36th overall.

The Sevastopol Pioneers takes their unbeaten mark in conference to another as they play against Peshtigo.

The Pioneers are undefeated this month, including a dominating run in the Suring Invitational that saw them drop one set across five matches against Tigerton, Three Lakes twice, Stockbridge, and Lourdes Academy. They are a perfect 4-0 in regular matches outside of tournaments.

The Bulldogs are 13-8, including a 3-0 sweep of Clintonville on Tuesday. The bulk of their losses has come at a pair of tournaments hosted by Shawano and Adams-Friendship.

Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.

The Sevastopol Pioneers football team look to bounce back from a tough loss last week when they travel to the Green Bay area to face Oneida Nation/NEW Lutheran.

The Pioneers could only muster 125 yards against Peninsula Conference-favorite Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas, in their 36-0 defeat last week. They are led offensively by Frank deYoung (288 yards passing) and Cesar Sandoval (266 yards rushing).

The United are winless in three tries this season. After facing two of the conference's top teams to open the season, they nearly beat Wausaukee last week before losing 26-20. Bryce Liebzeit leads the team offensively with 236 rushing yards.

The two teams play at 7 p.m. at Oneida Nation High School. 

The Sevastopol girls' cross country team finished in the top 10 at the Crusade Challenge hosted by Sheboygan Lutheran on Tuesday.

Bea Dramm topped the leaderboard for the Pioneers with a time of 23:21 in the 5K race, which was good for 27th place overall. The girls' team took 9th place with a score of 269 points. Oostburg won the meet with 65 points.

Jarius Dadam finished the 5K in 22:25, which was good for 98th place overall.

The girls team has 7 runners, led by sophomore Naomi Rikkola who recently ran a 21:57.5 at the Roncalli Invitational which was a good enough time for 6th in the girls race. Rikkola is almost 2 minutes faster than the second runner for the Pioneers, which is Bea Dramm. 

The boys team only has one runner, Jarius Dadam who has run a 20:11.5 at the Freedom meet, which was his personal best. 

The meet is scheduled for 4:30 P.M. 

Sevastopol girls volleyball rides a 5 match winning streak going into a non-conference match against the Mishicot Indians. 

The Pioneers (8-4 Overall, 2-0 Packerland), is the team to beat in the Packerland Conference this year it seems, after only losing one set in two matches versus Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay. Led by Bailey Rikkola and Johanna Andreae, the Pioneers find themselves in a very good spot going into their match with Mishicot. 

Mishicot (4-4 Overall), are playing .500 volleyball, and looking to get over that with an upset win over the Pioneers. Coming off of a 3-0 loss to Kiel, Mishicot will hope to overcome that and turn the tides around for a win. 

The match is set for 7:00 P.M. 

The Sevastopol girls cross country team placed four in the top 25 overall at Saturday's cross country meet to take fourth overall as a team.

The girls were led by Naomi Rikkola with a 6th-place finish in a personal-record time of 21:57. Jarius Dadam was the only boy finisher for the Pioneers, finishing the 5K course in 21:56.

The Pioneers' first game back at Sevastopol was spoiled quickly by Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas, who won in a shut-out victory 36-0.

The Titans' defense stymied a Pioneers offense that broke 40 points last week in their victory over Gillett. They still have not given up a point this season while the Titans offense has scored at least 35 points in each of their three wins.

Now sitting at 1-2, the Pioneers will head to Green Bay next Friday night to play Oneida Nation/NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy.

For the first time since the spring of 2021, the Sevastopol Pioneers football team will host a home game when Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas visits Institute Friday night.

During that pandemic-induced spring season, they beat Gibraltar 56-40 before setting up shop in Fish Creek for the 2021 fall season while improvements were made at Sevastopol's sports complex. This season, the Pioneers bounced back in a big way as they beat Gillett 42-22 behind huge performances from Frankie deYoung (220 yards passing, two TDs) and Cesar Sandoval (13 rushes, 152 yards, three total TDs).

The Titans are 2-0 on the year after beating Suring and Oneida Nation/NEW Lutheran by a combined score of 77-0. Sam Marquardt has been a one-man show in the games so far, rushing for 234 yards and throwing nearly another 100 yards while registering five total touchdowns.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Sevastopol will look to keep their fast start to this season going as they welcome in the Southern Door Eagles in another competitive Packerland match. 

The Pioneers started their season 3-4, but have quickly turned it around winning their last 4 matches without dropping a single set in any of those wins. Including wins over Sturgeon Bay and Reedsville, Sevastopol has been playing some good competition and faring pretty well against them. They will look to add to the win streak and make it 5 against the Eagles of Southern Door. 

The Eagles are playing their first conference match of the season, as they were the only team to not be in action last week. The Eagles participated in the Green Bay East Red Devil Invite and finished with a 3-1 record, their only 4 matches they’ve played so far this season. The Eagles are hoping to get out to a good start and begin their campaign 1-0 on the young conference season. 

The first serve is set for 7:00 P.M. from Sevastopol. 

The Sevastopol girls' took third place and there were plenty of good times at Tuesday's Algoma Invitational.

On the boys' side, Jairus Dadam took 20th place overall with a time of 22:32 on the hilly 5K course at Peterson Park in Algoma.

On the girls' side, Jolene Luedtke took eighth overall with a 5K time of 25:01. Three of its best runners finished in the top 20.

The Sevastopol Pioneers swept their volleyball match against the Reedsville Panthers on Tuesday night at home.  The Pioneers took the closely-contested sets 26-24, 25-23, and 25-21.  Sevastopol (7-4) will now play in Packerland action Thursday as they host Southern Door at Institute. 

The Sevastopol Pioneers welcome Reedsville for a week-opening volleyball match on Tuesday.

The Pioneers have jumped out to a 6-4 record on the season, including a 3-0 victory over Sturgeon Bay in their first non-tournament match of the season. They won both of their Kohler Triangular matches by 2-0 scores before that. 

The Tigers also swept Sturgeon Bay earlier this season and snapped a two-game losing streak with a 3-0 sweep of Hilbert last Thursday. They lost to Algoma 2-1 earlier this year. 

First serve is at 7 p.m.

The Sevastopol Pioneers football team bounced back in their second matchup of the season with a 42-22 victory over Gillett.

The Pioneers' defense controlled a Tigers' team that put up 55 points the week before in an overtime win over Wausaukee. Logan Retzlaff picked off a pair of passes while registering nine tackles. Cesar Sandoval (12 tackles), Alex Andreae (11 tackles), and Michael Wautlet (11 tackles) all reached double-digit tackle totals. 

Frank DeYoung got into a groove in his second game as a starting quarterback for the Pioneers, throwing for 220 yards and two scores. Retzlaff was his top target, catching eight balls for over 150 yards and a score. Sandoval rushed for 152 yards and two scores while Atlee Manson, Cole Albertson, and Andreae also recorded touchdowns.

The Sevastopol volleyball picked up right where they left off last season with a 3-0 victory over their southern rivals Sturgeon Bay on Thursday. 

The Pioneers never allowed the Clippers to crack the 20 point barrier, winning in straight sets 25-10, 25-18, 25-8.

The Sevastopol Pioneers took on an unfamiliar course at UW-Green Bay Thursday as they competed in the De Pere Invitational.

Jarius Dadam completed the 5K course at 23:00 as the Pioneers' only boy finisher.

For the girls, the Pioneers' Bea Dramm led the way with a season-best 24:20 to take 22nd place overall. The Pioneers finished in seventh place with 180 points.

The Sevastopol football team will hit the road once again on Thursday as they travel to face Gillett.

The Pioneers' offense struggled to get going against Gibraltar in their season-opening 42-6 loss last week. The team gained just 112 yards, 75 of which came off the legs of running back Cesar Sandoval. Frank de Young battled against constant harassment and went 3-5 for 45 yards. The only touchdown scored in the game for the Pioneers came off a blocked field goal attempt returned for a score by Alex Andreae. 

The Tigers look completely different compared to last year's squad that went 1-8 with a forfeit and only scored 70 points in seven games played. Jesse DeBauch outthrew the rest of the Peninsula Conference with 377 yards passing and two touchdowns. Colin Sturm scored four times on seventy yards of rushing as the Tigers beat Wausaukee 52-50.
