No one from the Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol wrestling team will be moving on to next weekend's sectional meet, but that doesn't mean there were not great performances.

Ben Roman was the big winner of the day, winning his first match by pin against Two Rivers' Connor Sanford. He would end the day in fourth place. Ben Denamur ended his career with a 5th place finish while Conor Waterstreet and Drew Barganz earned sixth-place finishes.

Sturgeon Bay took a tough loss to Southern Door in overtime Thursday night with the final score of 70-64.

Sturgeon Bay’s Anthony Jennerjohn kept the Clippers in the lead through the first half, ending the game by scoring 16 points. The Clippers fell short in defense in the second half, losing a 14 point lead. Southern Door eagle Alex Daoust helped to secure the 12-0 record and continue the team's undefeated season by scoring 35 points on the Clippers.

The Clippers will face NEW Lutheran on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. The Blazers lost to Southern Door on Tuesday 64-48 in a game they were able to salvage some pride from when they were able to outscore the Eagles in the second half.

Thursday night will include the rivalry between the Southern Door Eagles and the Sturgeon Bay clippers Boys Basketball teams. The Eagles are coming off of their most recent win against the N.E.W Lutheran Blazers. This season the Eagles are undefeated and the Clippers (5-4) are looking to break that streak. In their last game The Clippers faced off against the Kewaunee Storm and fell short of a victory by 23 points 63-44. The Clippers/Eagles game will be on 103.3 the Clipper. Pre game is at 7:15 and tip off is at 7:30.This will be the second broadcast by the student-led broadcast team of Reece Robillard and Brady Tooley.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers could not overcome a ten-point deficit and fell at home to NEW Lutheran 47-39 Tuesday night.  The Clippers saw the Blazers hit 21 out of 25 free throws to seal the victory.  Josie Nelson paced a balanced attack for NEW with 14 points while Carley Wodack led the  Clippers with 14 points and three three-pointers. 

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls' basketball team will not have to wait long to get a second crack at NEW Lutheran after losing in Green Bay Monday 43-24.

Ashley Alberts led the way for the Clippers with seven points while Carley Wodack added six. Bailey Scholz scored a game-high 19 points in the contest with her teammate Josie Nelson pitching in another 10 points for the Blazers. The Clippers were unable to get to the line as frequently as the Blazers, who shot 13-21 from the line. The Clippers were only able to make one of their four attempts. 

The two teams will face each other again Tuesday night beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The DCU boys swim team competed in their conference meet on Saturday at Plymouth and swam to a 2nd place finish behind the host team.

Individual results were excellent for all the boys swimming. The team of Race Kasten, Drew Rass, Connor Thompson, and Jacob Norton took second in the 200 Medley Relay with a season-best time of 1:43.71.

The highlight of the meet came in 200 Free Relay when Luke Bousley, Ethan Almstadt, Drew Rass, and Jacob Norton took 1st place and set a new EWC Conference record.

The DC United Swim team travels to Ashwaubenon this weekend for the WIAA Subsectional meet.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls' basketball team hopes to start the week on a happy note when they travel to Green Bay to face NEW Lutheran.

The Clippers struggled in its 78-37 loss to Peshtigo on Saturday after being outscored 43-14 in the second half. Carley Wodack led the team with 10 points while no other Clipper scored more than seven.

The Blazers, led by Josie Nelson's 13 points a game, could not dig out of their 30-17 halftime deficit in its 62-43 loss to Southern Door last Thursday.

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Sturgeon Bay Dance Team turned Green Bay into their own personal Titletown on Saturday.

The team competed at the Titletown National Championship at the KI Convention Center on Saturday, capturing first place awards in the Poms and Hip-Hop categories. The competition featured dozens of groups and solo dancers from across the state.

The search for its first win of the season in the Packerland Conference continues on Saturday afternoon when the Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls' basketball team play against Peshtigo.'

The Clippers fell to Southern Door on Friday 67-34. The Bulldogs led by Sydney Lund have already shown their defense ability this week in its 52-24 win over Algoma on Friday.

The game is set for Sturgeon Bay High School for a 1:30 p.m. tip.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls' basketball team will fresher legs than expected when they host Southern Door Friday night.

The Clippers were set to play the Storm on Thursday, but a threat at Kewaunee School District called off the day early for them and even canceled their classes on Friday. The team remains winless in the conference including a 41-29 loss to Algoma earlier this week.

The Eagles come into the contest fresh off of their 62-43 win over NEW Lutheran Thursday night. It snapped a two-game losing streak for the Eagles.

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls' basketball game against Kewaunee has been postponed until a later date.

Kewaunee High School was under a lockdown for much of the morning due to an outside threat mentioning a gun. Students there were released early after it was deemed safe for them to leave.

The Clippers will still play Southern Door on Friday.

The Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol wrestling team will have their last wrestling matches of the season ahead of the state series Thursday night when they wrestle against Peshtigo and Oconto.

All three teams are looking for their first conference wins of the season, partly because of their low numbers. The Clippineers actually won more contested matches against conference-leading Kewaunee earlier this season when they lost 42-30. Nick West, Ben DeNamur, and Drew Barganz all got pins in that dual. DeNamur also had an evening a few weeks ago when they battled Southern Door, Amherst, and Bonduel.

Against a common opponent in Southern Door, Oconto was swept in all three contested matches while Peshtigo's Reese Yunke, Brendan Conn, and Connor Thomas got varsity win as they lost to Southern Door as a team 60-15. Neither team has ranked wrestlers and have less than 10 combined varsity wrestlers between the two schools.

Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Peshtigo. 

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls' basketball team will try to do what no Packerland Conference team has been able to do this season on Thursday night: beat Kewaunee.

The Clippers will have a tall task as they come into the game winless in the conference including a 41-29 loss to Algoma last Thursday. Carley Wodack was the only Clippers player to reach double figures in the game with 12 points while also grabbing six rebounds.

The Storm has given themselves some cushion in the Packerland Conference standings with two straight wins over second-place Southern Door.  They also have a little extra confidence after closing a nine-point halftime deficit on Tuesday to beat Kiel 58-54.

 Thursday's game marks the first NEW Radio Sports Network student broadcast led by Southern Door's Brady Tooley and Reece Robillard. The pair of high school seniors will start their broadcast at 7:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening tip at 7:30 p.m.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers were able to prevail Tuesday night at home in a hard-fought Packerland Conference game against the Algoma Wolves.  The Clippers used a balanced attack led by Jake Schmelzer’s 17 points to turn a one-point-halftime lead into a nine-point victory.  Spencer Hubbard added 13 points for Sturgeon Bay.  Algoma was led by Carter Zimmerman who poured in a game-high 21 points for the Wolves.   

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers boys' basketball team looks to make it two in a row when it plays Algoma on Tuesday.

Prior to its 63-58 win over Peshtigo on Saturday, the Clippers tamed the Wolves Thursday with 78-52 victory. Three players reached double figures with another two with at least eight points. The Clippers showed their depth over the weekend as Spencer Hubbard followed up his 19 point performance on Friday against Algoma with just four against Peshtigo. Carson Dvorak picked up the pieces, following up his two points against Algoma with 19 against Peshtigo.

The Wolves are still in search for their first Packerland win after following up their loss against the Clippers on Thursday with a defeat at the hands of conference-leading Southern Door. Carter Zimmerman led the way again for the Wolves, scoring 14 points. Compared to the other teams in the league, the Wolves play with a relatively short bench as only six players got into the scorebook compared to 12 for the Eagles.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers boys' basketball team outscored the Algoma Wolves by 16 points and did not look back in its 78-52 win on Thursday night.

The Clippers scored 39 points in each half while limiting the Wolves to under 30 each time. Spencer Hubbard led the Clippers with 19 points while Jake Schmelzer and Andrew Carbajal chipped in 15 and 11 points respectively.  The Wolves' Trevor Nell got 15 points in the loss. Carbajal, Hubbard, and Nell all drained three three-pointers for their respective teams. 

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls' basketball team will try to get their first win of the Packerland Conference against the Algoma Wolves on Thursday.

The two teams are already familiar with each other this week after their game on Tuesday. The Wolves won 34-33 after almost seeing their six-point halftime lead slip away. Neither team had a player reach double figures in the contest with the Clippers' Carley Wodack and Jaiden Adams matching the Wolves' Halle Panger and Ryley Zimmerman with eight points apiece. It was the Wolves' first Packerland victory this season.

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

Carley Wodack scored 19 points but it was not enough to lead the Clippers past Oconto as they lost 53-41 on Monday night.

Wodack did her damage from behind the arc, leading the Clippers with three made three-pointers. Ashley Alberts chipped in 16 points in the loss. The Clippers were not as successful as the Blue Devils of getting to the line. While the host Blue Devils were able to make 13 of their 24 attempts, the Clippers were only able to get to the line eight times, making six of them. The Blue Devils had their own two-head monster in Lianna Baxter and Hannah Moe, combining for 31 points in the win.

The Clippers have to go back to battle on Tuesday when they travel to face Algoma.

The Sturgeon Bay girls' basketball team heads to Oconto on Monday night for a Packerland Conference matchup.

Both teams are near the bottom of the conference with the Clippers still looking for their first Packerland win while the Blue Devils only have one to their name. The Blue Devils came up just shy of beating NEW Lutheran last Friday night, falling 48-44. Lianna Baxter proved why she leads the team in most offensive categories, scoring 22 points while registering 14 rebounds and four assists in the loss. The Clippers fell to Sevastopol in its last game on Thursday to the tune of 59-42. Ashley Alberts (14 points) and Elena LeRoy (10) each reached double figures in the loss.

The two teams collide in Oconto Monday night at 7:30.

The Sturgeon Bay boys' basketball team could crack the 20-point mark in either half as it fell to Oconto Thursday night 51-32.

The Blue Devils allowed the Clippers just 16 points each half while starting the game with a 29-16 lead. Oconto got balanced scoring throughout their line up with five players getting at least seven points. The Clippers were led by Anthony Jennerjohn who scored 16 points on the evening behind four made three-pointers. Jack Schmelzer pitched in another eight points. The Blue Devils were able to control of the game from the line, taking advantage of 20 Clippers fouls to go 12-17 in free throws. In contrast, the Clippers were only able to draw 12 fouls and shot only four free throws the entire game. Josh Woller scored 14 points and Kaiden Baxter added 11 points in the Blue Devils victory.

The Clippers return to action Monday night when they play at Algoma.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers boys basketball team hope to climb up the Packerland Conference standings when they host Oconto on Thursday.

The Clippers won their last time out, beating Sevastopol 61-41 to snap an early two-game losing streak. Anthony Jennerjohn is leading the team in scoring with 11.5 points per game while Jack Schmelzer is averaging eight rebounds a contest.

The Clippers are trying to catch the Blue Devils, who are coming off an 83-62 victory over Gibraltar earlier this week. A key for the game is slowing down Josh Woller, who hit five three-points en route to a 30 point game. Caleb Moe earned a double-double in the contest, scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Sturgeon Bay and Sevastopol girls basketball teams will battle for zip code bragging rights when the two square off on Thursday.

It is a rematch of last week's New Year's Eve matchup that saw the Pioneers limit the Clippers to just six first-half points in a 41-24 romp. Ashley Alberts led the way for the Clippers with 10 points while Carly Wodack collected 11 rebounds and four assists. The Pioneers had two players reach double figures in the game, led by Bailey Rikkola's 16 points. 

The Clippers hope to avenge the loss and get their first Packerland Conference win of the season when they travel to Institute at 7:30 p.m.

The Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol wrestling team will see some major schedule shifts in the final weeks of the season.

Its dual meet this week has now been replaced with quadrangular meet on Thursday. Instead of facing just Southern Door, it will now also face Amherst and Bonduel at Bonduel with the first whistle occurring at 5:30 p.m. 

Its final dual meet against Peshtigo on January 21st is still scheduled, but teams across the state are scrambling to redo their schedules to fit in triangular and quadrangular meets after the WIAA announced they would be allowed moving forward on Monday.

 A swim meet scheduled for Tuesday night at the Sturgeon Bay YMCA has been postponed.

The DC United Swim Team had been scheduled to face Bay Port previously. It will mark the second time this week a meet has been canceled or postponed after its invitational at Sheboygan North met the cutting block earlier this season. 

DC United is next scheduled to swim on January 14th at Plymouth as they face the host school and Kiel. The first event is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Sturgeon Bay boys' basketball team opens 2021 at home against nearby rival Sevastopol on Tuesday night.

The Pioneers come into the matchup riding high after defeating Tigerton 73-53 on Monday night. Like the Clippers, the Pioneers are looking for their first Packerland Conference win.

The Clippers lost their last time out as they fell to Gibraltar 60-44. They also lost to Southern Door earlier in the season as they only have two games under their belt after a late start to the season. Anthony Jennerjohn leads the team in scoring 11.5 points per game and is second in assists with 1.5 assists per game.
